Sophie was leased horse and a great horse for learning during her 2 years of service at RLR. She touched many lives with her quirky personality. (Soft when needed, and challenging other times) She loved to be groomed and pampered.
She never really did enjoy groundwork which is a key program to RLR. We have a goal of growing this program with horses that are willing to connect with any client and can move towards “Liberty” work (off lead work). Sophie also started to became grumpy with other horses in the arena when riding. We became concerned of emotional burn out for her and released her back to her owner.
Being a therapy horse is very hard physically and emotionally on horses. Not all of them can do this work for years on end. We are thankful for our time Sophie, she taught many during her time at RLR and she got a great foundation of training while here.
